About the role
- SwissBorg is seeking an Accountant with a strong technical foundation to own Accounts Payable and contribute across the full scope of the accounting function.
- This role involves handling month-end close, reconciliations, intercompany transactions, VAT and tax, and audit preparation within a small, international accounting team.
Responsibilities
- Own the Accounts Payable process: supplier invoice review and coding (ApprovalMax/Xero), payment preparation, supplier statement reconciliations and vendor master data
- Prepare and manage general ledger entries, accruals and prepayments
- Monthly, quarterly and annual closes for all group entities, in collaboration with external accounting firms
- Balance sheet and bank reconciliations, and account analysis to ensure balances are correct and supported
- Monthly intercompany reconciliations, recharges and settlements across group entities
- Supporting VAT and other tax compliance across jurisdictions (VAT returns, reverse charge, withholding taxes), working with our external tax advisors
- Prepare audit files and support the annual and interim audits of the group entities
- Strengthen internal controls and improve accounting processes, contributing your own ideas
- Manage both technical and routine accounting tasks with a high degree of accuracy and consistency
Requirements
- A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Around 5 years of accounting experience, ideally starting at a Big 4 firm in audit or accounting outsourcing
- A strong accounting background: confident with general ledger accounting, closing, reconciliations, accruals and the full accounting cycle
- Experience with multi-entity groups, intercompany accounting and, ideally, consolidation
- Hands-on Accounts Payable experience
- Working knowledge of VAT and corporate tax compliance
- Experience preparing for and working with external auditors
- Hands-on experience with accounting software and strong Excel skills
- Fluent English
Preferred qualifications
- Experience coaching or reviewing the work of junior team members
- International or cross-border VAT exposure
- Familiarity with Xero and ApprovalMax
- An interest in crypto and/or crypto accounting
- French language skills
