About the role

  • The ADAS DRE - Sensors is responsible for managing the release process for our camera systems.
  • This role bridges hardware release, systems engineering, and cross-functional coordination to ensure successful integration of all camera systems into Scout vehicles.
  • The role owns assigned camera hardware and mounting-system deliverables through integration, validation, issue resolution, and release.

Responsibilities

  • Own the hardware release of assigned camera system components, including associated mounting brackets, and ensure release deliverables meet defined technical, quality, timing, and documentation requirements.
  • Lead the integration of assigned camera system components into the Scout architecture while meeting installation guidelines and component performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and validation engineers, to define system requirements, evaluate technical tradeoffs, and ensure camera system performance.
  • Plan and execute system-level testing, validation, and verification activities for assigned sensor components, including real-world testing and data analysis, to validate system performance and compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
  • Act as the single point of contact for assigned camera hardware and mounting systems within Scout; evaluate identifiable technical factors, recommend the appropriate course of action, and lead component issue tracking and resolution plans through closure.
  • Adapt existing engineering approaches and precedents to address unusual circumstances, and escalate decisions or risks that exceed the role’s assigned scope or authority.
  • Communicate technical status, risks, recommendations, and resolution plans to cross-functional partners and senior contacts, adapting the level of detail to the audience.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in ADAS technologies, industry trends, and regulatory requirements to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, or a related field, with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in ADAS development, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Experience with the hardware release process for ADAS applications, including responsibility for assigned component deliverables and issue resolution.
  • Working knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, GMSL, or Ethernet) and tools for development, simulation, and testing (e.g., CANoe, CANalyzer, JIRA, and Confluence).
  • Working knowledge of relevant safety standards and legislative regulations (e.g., ISO 26262, SAE J3016, FMVSS 111, FMVSS 127) and the ability to apply them to assigned component development and validation activities.
  • Expertise in complex problem solving and data analysis, with demonstrated ability to access and interpret information, evaluate identifiable factors, adapt existing approaches, and drive results with extended teams.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned responsibilities, exercise judgment within established engineering frameworks, and seek review at critical decision points.

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior experience within the Volkswagen Group, particularly in ADAS or automated driving programs.
  • Fluency in German is a plus.
