About the role
- The Associate Scientist/Scientist I will serve as a subject-matter expert in flow cytometry and ex vivo tissue processing within the translational biology team.
- This role involves executing complex multi-parameter panels and tissue isolation workflows to evaluate lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery and therapeutic function.
- The position contributes to high-throughput discovery workflows at the intersection of biology, automation, and AI while mentoring junior team members.
Responsibilities
- Independently execute high-dimensional, multi-parameter flow cytometry panels to assess LNP uptake, expression, and immune activation.
- Own the full flow cytometry workflow including instrument setup, spectral unmixing, acquisition, and data analysis in FlowJo.
- Isolate viable single-cell suspensions from liver, spleen, and whole blood across mouse, rat, NHP, and human samples.
- Prepare tissues for downstream analysis including homogenization, protein/RNA extraction, and lysate preparation.
- Drive flow-based readouts for LNP and delivery system performance across species and tissues.
- Execute high-throughput, plate-based screening experiments and contribute to screening design.
- Oversee sample collection, labeling, and biorepository integrity.
- Assist with development of multiplex immunoassays such as MSD, Luminex, and ELLA.
- Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data to inform project direction.
- Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and mentor junior staff on technical best practices.
Requirements
- B.S. with 5+ years or M.S. with 3+ years of hands-on laboratory experience in Biology, Immunology, or related field.
- Advanced expertise in multi-parameter flow cytometry, including panel design and spectral unmixing.
- Hands-on experience with FlowJo for gating and multi-parameter data analysis.
- Demonstrated expertise in ex vivo tissue processing and cell isolation from liver, spleen, and blood.
- Experience with primary cell culture and immortalized cell lines.
- Ability to independently manage and prioritize multiple concurrent experiments.
- Strong organizational skills and commitment to data integrity.
- Proficiency with electronic lab notebook keeping.
