About the role
- SpaceX is seeking an Avionics Integration & Test Engineer for HASS (Starshield) in Hawthorne to own acceptance and qualification tests of satellite electrical systems.
- This role involves operating Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS) chambers to screen flight hardware before launch and investigating failed electrical hardware to determine root causes.
Responsibilities
- Own flight hardware through highly accelerated thermal screening procedures and serve as primary contact for any associated issues or stoppages
- Evaluate non-conforming electrical hardware to determine root cause failure modes and propose design improvements
- Troubleshoot test software and modify the codebase to adjust test bounds, implement fixes, and incorporate updates as needed
- Collaborate with mechanical/electrical design, quality, and production teams to solve high-complexity testing challenges
- Drive continuous improvement efforts to increase throughput and reduce cost to meet targets
- Write automation software in Python to interact with flight hardware, test equipment, instrumentation, and production documentation
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering or physics
- 1+ years of design and/or hands-on manufacturing experience
Preferred qualifications
- Ability and willingness to obtain a Top Secret clearance
- Master's degree in an engineering discipline
- Experience with MATLAB, python, or other programming language
- Experience with integration and testing of avionics, propulsion, thermal, and/or structural systems
- Documentation and configuration management experience
- Experience writing test plans, procedures and providing go/no-go judgment and rationale
- Experience in a production environment
- Demonstrated engineering intuition, critical thinking, comfort with ambiguity
