About the role
- Axon is seeking a Dynamics 365 Finance Functional Architect to lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative financial solutions within the D365 FO platform.
- This hands-on role sits at the center of supporting Axon's financial operations and rapid growth by leveraging modern ERP capabilities, automation, analytics, and AI-driven solutions.
- The architect will partner closely with finance stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and leadership to deliver scalable systems and shape the future of Finance systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative financial solutions within the Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 FO) platform.
- Conduct fit/gap analyses to identify areas for customization, develop detailed design specifications, and strive to implement standard processes while minimizing customization.
- Design integrations with other financial systems for revenue recognition, tax compliance, financial consolidations, and reporting.
- Partner with finance stakeholders to assess, refine, and automate key financial processes in areas such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Management, Fixed Assets, and Project Accounting.
- Identify opportunities to embed AI, machine learning, and intelligent automation capabilities within Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and adjacent technologies.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of finance-related projects within D365 FO from gathering requirements and designing solutions to deployment and post-implementation support.
- Act as a trusted advisor to Axon’s finance leadership team, providing insights into system capabilities and recommending enhancements.
- Collaborate with internal audit and finance teams to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data, building and enhancing financial reports, dashboards, and data management processes.
- Provide training and documentation to finance teams and end-users, and mentor the functional analysis team.
- Lead financial activities related to mergers and acquisitions and partner to establish best practices for responsible AI adoption within Finance systems.
Requirements
- Extensive hands-on experience with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations with a strong track record of designing and implementing finance-related systems.
- Deep understanding of accounting principles, financial processes, and related Dynamics 365 Finance modules, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Management, and Fixed Assets.
- Experience creating and implementing legal entities, establishing intercompany trade, managing financial consolidations, currency revaluation, and defining financial dimensions and account structure configuration.
- Familiarity with GAAP, IFRS, and revenue recognition.
- Experience designing and implementing electronic reporting solutions that support advanced reporting structures and building reports in Financial Reporter.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects from gathering requirements to execution, including prioritizing tasks and managing timelines.
- Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to solve complex business challenges and identify operational inefficiencies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with technical and non-technical teams and senior finance leadership.
- Familiarity with integrating D365 FO with other enterprise applications, ERP systems, and legacy platforms.
- Experience evaluating or implementing AI-enabled business solutions, Microsoft Copilot capabilities, intelligent workflow automation, predictive analytics, or process optimization technologies.
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and/or Scaled Agile methodologies and tools like Azure DevOps, Jira and SharePoint
- D365 certifications in Finance or other relevant modules
