About the role
- The Litigation Counsel position offers a unique opportunity to represent the SpaceX business in a variety of litigation matters.
- The role focuses on labor and employment disputes, both in the United States and internationally, with opportunities to expand into other legal areas.
Responsibilities
- Manage all facets of litigation, with a focus on labor and employment disputes.
- Expand portfolio to include consumer, contractual, commercial, or other kinds of legal disputes.
- Conduct internal investigations.
- Support discovery efforts.
- Draft and review discovery requests/responses, pleadings, and briefs.
- Direct litigation strategy.
- Negotiate settlements.
- Identify legal risks and mitigate them by designing and implementing controls.
Requirements
- JD from an ABA accredited law school.
- 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney.
- Experience litigating labor and employment disputes in California.
- Must be admitted to the bar, in good standing, in at least one U.S. State.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee to meet ITAR requirements.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience leading litigation of labor and employment matters, including in court, arbitration, and administrative proceedings (e.g., EEOC, CRD).
- Meaningful first or second chair trial experience.
- Specialized knowledge of California labor and employment law.
- Knowledge of Texas, Florida, or Washington State labor and employment law.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior experience—either in-house or through client relationships—representing high-growth companies.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships with other business groups and/or clients.
- Proven ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
Workplace
- Position is based in Starbase, TX.
- Requires being onsite; remote work is not considered.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.
