About the role
- Zeeco, Inc. is seeking a Crater to fabricate wooden crates or boxes and pack machinery and other large or odd-shaped products using woodworking tools.
Responsibilities
- Fabricates wooden crates or boxes, using woodworking hand tools and powered tools, and packs items such as machinery or other large or odd-shaped products.
- Reads blueprints, shipping notices, and other specifications, and inspects product to determine size and shape of container, materials to be used, and types of supports and braces to be used.
- Lays out dimensions on materials with ruler, measuring tape, and pencil.
- Saws materials to size, using handsaws and powered saws.
- Assembles materials, using nailing or stapling machine, screws, bolts, glue, and hand tools.
- Places product in container, manually or using hoist.
- Bolts heavy pieces to bottom of container or skid.
- Wraps and pads product with excelsior, paper or other packing materials.
- Builds crate around large or odd-shaped articles and nails cover on crate.
- Wraps and tightens metal bands around crate, using banding equipment, and attaches identification labels or stencils.
Requirements
- Must be able to read tape measure
- Experience with electrical saws (Panel saw, Jigsaw, & Miter saw)
- Experience with Pneumatic nail and staple guns
- Fork lift experience
- Overhead crane experience
- Able to lift over 50 LBS
- Good teamwork
- Must be able to go up and down stairs.
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
- Must be able to operate a Computer, telephone and other office equipment.
