About the role
- The Data Center Build & Deployment Intern will work on live hardware builds, including receiving and staging racks and performing installation quality checks. The role involves tracking throughput and identifying process bottlenecks to improve build efficiency. Interns will also be responsible for shipping a deployment dashboard and delivering a measurable cycle-time improvement.
Responsibilities
- Receive and stage server racks
- Run installation quality checks against port maps and standards
- Track build throughput
- Identify bottlenecks in the build process
- Develop and ship a deployment dashboard
- Analyze and report on cycle-time improvements
Requirements
- Current enrollment in an engineering technology, construction management, industrial/electrical engineering, logistics, supply chain, or IT program
- Military experience in a technical, maintenance, construction, electrical, or logistics specialty
- 2+ years of prior work in construction, facilities, field service, logistics, manufacturing, or IT operations
- Ability to perform physical, on-your-feet work in data halls
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb with or without reasonable accommodation
- Working spreadsheet skills in Excel or Google Sheets
- Reliability and checklist discipline
- Ability to meet colocation site access requirements including a background check
- Ability to travel to data center sites 30-50% of the time during build windows
Preferred qualifications
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification
- NFPA 70E awareness
- Electrical, low-voltage, or fiber exposure
- CompTIA A+ or Server+ certification
- Lean or Six Sigma training
- Dashboarding experience in Power BI or Smartsheet
- Forklift or material-handling certification
- Prior data center or mission-critical work
