About the role
- Solace is seeking a Data Engineer to build the data foundation that powers patient outcomes in a high-growth startup environment.
- The role involves architecting scalable data infrastructure, managing data pipelines, and owning the FastAPI data API used within the application.
- You will establish engineering standards and best practices while ensuring data is trusted, reliable, and secure.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines using Airflow, Python, dbt, and Snowflake.
- Manage and evolve cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP) using Terraform.
- Write clean, production-grade code for complex data processing and champion engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with analysts to design performant SQL transformations and data models in Snowflake.
- Implement observability and monitoring to ensure data reliability and quality.
- Partner with Data Analysts and Product Managers to deliver high-quality data products.
- Own the FastAPI data API, including endpoint design, performance, deployment, and monitoring.
Requirements
- Strong Python proficiency for modular, testable, and efficient code.
- Advanced SQL expertise and experience with cloud data warehousing, specifically Snowflake.
- Proven experience building and maintaining complex workflows using Airflow or similar tools.
- Familiarity with Terraform and cloud services (AWS or GCP).
- Experience handling sensitive data (PHI/PII) with secure access controls and governance standards.
- Ability to translate complex technical challenges for non-technical stakeholders.
- Must be based in the United States.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience using dbt for transformations, testing, and documentation.
- Experience working with healthcare data standards or HIPAA-regulated environments.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for deploying data applications.
- Exposure to backend development or MLOps practices.
