- Get to Know our Team
- The Compute Platform team operates the fleet of bare metal and virtual machines infrastructure that every product at Agoda runs on. As part of the team, you will be contributing to a mission-critical private cloud with over one million cores, spread across hundreds of Kubernetes clusters, OpenStack virtual machines, and bare metal servers across our global data centers.
- A core part of the team's roadmap is ACP (Agoda Compute Platform), our in-house, lightweight orchestration stack for dedicated-resource virtual machines on bare metal, alongside broader fleet lifecycle tooling and automation.
About the role
- The Compute Platform team is seeking a Staff/Lead Software Engineer to take technical ownership of the Agoda Compute Platform (ACP) and broader fleet infrastructure.
- This role involves designing and building large-scale infrastructure systems, including orchestrators and agents for dedicated-resource virtual machines on bare metal.
- The position is based in Bangkok, Thailand, and includes relocation support.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the architecture of ACP, including the orchestrator, per-host agent, and CLI.
- Design, build, and operate compute and fleet tooling in Go and Python.
- Lead medium to large projects across Fleet, Compute Platform, and adjacent teams from design through delivery.
- Participate in System Design Reviews across the engineering organization.
- Utilize agentic coding tools for design, implementation, testing, and review.
- Troubleshoot product and system issues at scale across global data centers.
- Interview and mentor engineers to raise the hiring bar for compute and fleet roles.
- Define and track measures for ACP reliability, operational load, and delivery quality.
- Collaborate with Software Development and Infrastructure Management teams to design scalable services.
- Write technical documentation and training materials for ACP operation.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with a background in infrastructure or compute systems.
- Strong distributed systems development skills in Go.
- Proven experience owning and evolving distributed systems like control planes, orchestrators, or agents in production.
- Experience with virtualization and bare-metal provisioning at scale.
- Practical experience using Kubernetes in production.
- Comfortable using agentic coding tools in day-to-day development.
- Strong understanding of observability for distributed systems including monitoring, alerting, and logging.
- Track record of leading medium to large technical projects and driving architectural decisions.
- Experience working across team boundaries.
- Clear written and verbal English communication skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes controllers, operators, and/or CRDs.
- Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source Kubernetes Operators/Controllers.
- Experience with configuration management and automation tooling, preferably Ansible and/or AWX.
- Experience with out-of-band hardware management APIs (iLO, DRAC) and physical architecture at scale.
- Experience with CI/CD and GitOps approaches to infrastructure delivery.
- Experience working across a large, distributed engineering organization.
