About the role

  • Workato is looking for an Intern, Technical Program Manager in the AI Business Unit for a one-year internship with intent to hire.
  • This role involves owning a high-visibility project from day one, running agile cadences, and shaping how the team delivers agentic use cases.

Responsibilities

  • Run the day-to-day agile cadence across all workstreams including sprint planning, backlog grooming, standups, and retrospectives.
  • Decompose requirements into well-structured Jira epics and stories with clear descriptions, acceptance criteria, and dependencies based on direction from the Technical Owner.
  • Set and track milestones for the requirement-to-delivery pipeline, flagging slippage early and providing status updates.
  • Align stakeholders across workstreams including Product Owner, Technical Lead, Functional Lead, and engineering on scope, sequencing, and dependencies.
  • Document approach, decisions, and findings in Confluence.
  • Partner with workstream leads across Packaged Genies to gather functional requirements and turn them into structured, usable specs.
  • Classify and categorize functional requirements and use cases to surface patterns such as recurring integration types and common breakdown gaps.
  • Quantify trends and benchmarks regarding where requirements stall and how task sizing holds up in practice.
  • Identify and document the underlying drivers behind unclear requirements or poorly sized tasks using evidence from Jira and requirement-tracking data.
  • Propose solutions including AI-driven and automation-based approaches that leverage Workato's agentic platform and define how success will be measured.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, or an MBA with a technical undergraduate background or hands-on IT/technology experience.
  • Strong interest in data, functional/business analysis, program management, and Agile methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and visualization techniques, and a comfort level in handling large, varied datasets.
  • Interest in Agentic AI, emerging AI tools, and their practical application to real business problems.
  • Proactive and comfortable working through ambiguity, with a mindset geared toward continuous improvement.
  • Strong communicator able to translate complex findings and functional requirements into clear, actionable specs and program updates.
  • Thinks analytically and grounds recommendations in evidence rather than assumptions.
  • Takes ownership of work, both analysis and program delivery outcomes, and is curious about the reasoning behind data.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar project management tools.
  • Basic familiarity with APIs, integrations, or enterprise systems (CRM, HRMS, ITSM).
