About the role
- WWL-TV is seeking a creative photojournalist to shoot and edit investigative content for the CBS affiliate in New Orleans.
- The role involves telling compelling stories, utilizing precise editing techniques, and participating in live news-gathering and on-air performance.
Responsibilities
- Capture video and audio elements for news, sports, features, and documentary-style stories.
- Work with the investigative team on special reports requiring precise attention to detail.
- Collaborate with a team of journalists to realize the vision for stories.
- Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media to enhance stories.
- Operate news gathering vehicles to and from various locations.
Requirements
- Experience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systems.
- Proven ability to generate creative, engaging, content-driven live shots.
- Demonstrated news judgment, photography experience, and non-linear editing skills.
- Understanding of the tenets of professional journalism.
- Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines.
- Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs. and occasionally up to 80 lbs. with or without an accommodation.
- Current driver’s license and ability to operate news gathering vehicle.
- Must be flexible with schedule, reliable and dependable.
Preferred qualifications
- BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in an investigative team environment.
- Knowledge of EDIUS or any non-linear base editing system.
