About the role
- MongoDB is seeking a driven commercial attorney to serve as Legal Counsel for Procurement, focusing on high-value negotiations and third-party agreements. The role involves partnering with global procurement and cross-functional teams to manage complex transactions and scale legal processes. This position offers flexibility, with options to work from New York City, Austin, or remotely within the United States.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary legal partner to global Procurement and advise cross-functional stakeholders on third-party contracting matters
- Draft and negotiate buy-side agreements, including SaaS, software, marketing, facilities, professional services, and real estate agreements
- Provide practical legal guidance on complex, high-value, and high-risk procurement transactions
- Develop and maintain scalable procurement and legal review processes
- Develop and maintain legal knowledge-management resources, including procurement playbooks and templates
- Identify opportunities to leverage technology, automation, and contract lifecycle management tools to scale procurement legal support
- Develop and deliver training to Procurement and business stakeholders on contracting processes and risk allocation
- Maintain awareness of emerging legal issues affecting procurement, including data privacy, security, AI, and intellectual property
- Support broader Legal team priorities and initiatives as needed
Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial contract experience
- Proven track record negotiating procurement agreements
- Experience at a law firm and/or high-growth tech company
- JD with an active bar membership in your jurisdiction
- Understanding of data privacy requirements
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations
