About the role
- The Litigation Engineer acts as a bridge between legal litigation practice and AI product strategy, embedding with law firms to configure and optimize the DISCO Unified Litigation Solution. This role involves translating field observations into scalable software and go-to-market playbooks while serving as a technical subject matter expert.
Responsibilities
- Embed directly with litigation teams at law firms to diagnose case needs and configure system capabilities.
- Map evidence to causes of action on live legal matters.
- Report real-world usage insights and prioritize feature requests for internal product and engineering teams.
- Codify hands-on customization into reusable workflow templates, prompt patterns, and practice-area playbooks.
- Develop enablement materials for broader account team usage.
- Partner with executive leadership and sales teams as a technical and domain expert on early-stage deals and firm expansion.
- Collaborate with client legal teams to design custom agents, tools, and workflows.
Requirements
- Experience in complex commercial litigation, mass torts, or regulatory investigations.
- Background in legal innovation or practice technology at a law firm.
- Hands-on experience with litigation workflows, legal strategy development, or fact development.
- Familiarity with scripting or APIs (e.g., Python, JavaScript) or hands-on experimentation with agent frameworks and tool protocols.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred qualifications
- Mastery of cause-of-action mapping, factual chronologies, and evidence analysis within litigation practice.
- Fluent understanding of retrieval systems, agentic tools, prompt patterns, and model operations.
- Ability to manage and influence cross-functional partners and skeptical law firm stakeholders without formal authority.
- Ability to operate effectively in early-stage, ambiguous environments with minimal structured playbooks.
