This role involves owning critical technical areas, driving reliability and security improvements, and leading complex incident resolution within the Production Engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve highly available bare-metal Kubernetes architectures including control planes, worker nodes, and rack topology.
- Define standards for cluster provisioning, upgrades, scaling, node replacement, and decommissioning.
- Design secure multi-tenant platforms using RBAC, OIDC/SSO, namespace isolation, and network policies.
- Deploy and operate Kubernetes clusters across development, staging, and production environments.
- Own day-two operations including upgrades, capacity expansion, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management.
- Build and maintain GitOps and CI/CD workflows using tools like Argo CD, Kubespray, and Ansible.
- Participate in follow-the-sun production on-call rotations.
- Lead complex incident response, root-cause analysis, and postmortems.
- Implement and operate Kubernetes networking using CNI technologies like Cilium and BGP.
- Integrate Kubernetes with enterprise storage platforms including Portworx and Pure Storage FlashArray.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Six or more years of experience in infrastructure, SRE, platform engineering, or production engineering.
- At least three years of hands-on experience operating Kubernetes in production, with significant bare-metal experience.
- Strong Linux systems administration, troubleshooting, performance-tuning, and security-hardening skills.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes internals including API server, etcd, controllers, scheduler, and kubelet.
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes networking including CNI plugins, Services, Ingress, NetworkPolicies, DNS, and TCP/IP.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation using Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent tools.
