About the role
- KING 5, the TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate in Seattle, WA, is seeking a News Producer to create smart and engaging newscasts that focus on breaking news, accountability and storytelling.
- The producer will report to an Executive Producer and collaborate with other producers, anchors, reporters and photojournalists.
- This role balances multiple deadlines and upholds high journalistic standards to get news on-air and to digital platforms.
Responsibilities
- Craft, build, mold, visualize, and conceptualize the lead story, deep-dive content, and segments on both linear and streaming platforms
- Prioritize breaking news and flexibility to ensure we are beating the competition and keeping our viewers apprised of what is happening in the moment in our community
- Use creative production techniques like graphics, editing and new forms of media to enhance stories
- Hold the powerful accountable
- Enterprise ideas by pitching your own stories
- Calmly handle live and breaking news in the control room
- Write conversationally and cut video for broadcast
Requirements
- At least 2 years of producing experience in a medium or large market
- Strong news judgement and use of analytics to determine content and teases
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends
Preferred qualifications
- Strong understanding of the tenets of professional journalism
- Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, editing and content management systems are a plus
- Organizational skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines
- BA/BS college degree or related experience
