Lorikeet is hiring a Principal Engineer for their New York office to work alongside other principals and set technical direction for the company.
The role involves defining AI-first product development, including UI/UX, capabilities, data models, and underlying systems.
This is a hands-on role where the candidate will spend most of their time building and leading through the quality of their thinking and work.

Set technical direction and own the architecture for major parts of the product while writing the code to back them up.
Take on ambiguous, high-stakes, cross-cutting work like reliability at millions-of-tickets scale, evaluation and quality systems for AI agents, and engineering foundations.
Define how the team builds with AI by designing tooling, guardrails, and feedback loops for coding agents.

Have 10+ years of experience shipping software, including time as a staff- or principal-level engineer at a company with high engineering standards.
Have set the technical direction for a product or platform and lived with the consequences.
Have led ambiguous, high-stakes projects from blank page to production, across the stack.
Make other engineers better through design reviews, mentorship, and the example set in your own code.
Use coding agents as a core part of how you build as a real development workflow and have opinions on how teams should use them.
Want to be early with real scope, real ownership, and real upside at a fast-moving company.
