About the role
- The Project Design Engineer (Security Infrastructure) provides deep technical expertise in LMR security systems, specialising in RF design, system configuration, complex troubleshooting, and optimisation.
- This position is responsible for the technical integrity and performance of LMR solutions from design to deployment.
Responsibilities
- Execute the design engagement by producing complete, accurate, and installable design packages.
- Produce all required documentation, including floor plans (device locations, cabling, and routes), schematic and riser diagrams, detailed rough-in and termination details, and panel elevations.
- Ensure designs adhere to client standard guidelines, incorporate Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles, and meet building codes, including reviewing and supporting design calculations and coordinating photometric and lighting requirements.
- Complete and submit all necessary programming forms required by SecSystem team to facilitate system commissioning.
- Attend relevant review meetings to integrate feedback and modify standards to reflect unique site conditions.
- Finalise the project by ensuring full system functionality and delivering complete closeout documentation.
- Coordinate system programming, perform pre-installation signoffs, and oversee the execution of pre-functional checklists, initial testing, final adjustments, and calibrations.
- Demonstrate all systems and component operations for final acceptance.
- Prepare and submit final O&M manuals and as-built documents.
- Ensure training is provided for security, facility, and technical staff where required.
Requirements
- Proven LMR technical expertise.
- RF design/software certification (e.g., iBwave or similar), Level 2 or higher.
- Exposure to radio operations deployment.
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a technical design position.
- Experience with analog, digital (e.g., P25, DMR, TETRA), and DAS system design and processes.
