About the role
- Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking candidates for an open position within the Accounting and Tax organization to support the growth of the PlayStation business.
- This is an open position rather than a role with a single specific scope, allowing candidates' professional backgrounds to be matched with various accounting and tax opportunities.
- Professionals from corporate accounting, tax functions, audit firms, tax advisory, or accounting advisory can apply to leverage their expertise in a global business environment.
Responsibilities
- Support standalone and consolidated closing processes and accounting treatment under IFRS
- Analyze financial performance and prepare reporting for management and Sony Group
- Support external audit and internal control activities
- Drive process improvement and standardization across Accounting and Tax operations
- Enhance Finance processes through data analysis and automation, including ERP and Finance systems
- Support Treasury activities, including foreign exchange and cash management
- Support accounting for game development, software, hardware, R&D, and manage related royalty calculations and tax treatments
- Provide accounting and tax support for partner transactions, contractual arrangements, and emerging business models
- Support corporate, local, and consumption tax compliance activities alongside tax advisory for new business initiatives
- Participate in global Finance projects and cross-functional initiatives while collaborating with overseas teams in Japan, the U.S., and Europe
Requirements
- Practical experience in corporate accounting, financial closing, financial reporting, financial audit, or tax within a corporate environment, audit firm, or tax advisory firm
- Foundational technical knowledge in Accounting and/or Tax
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Willingness to work in an environment where English is used regularly
Preferred qualifications
- Hold relevant qualifications such as Bookkeeping (e.g., Nissho Boki 1st or 2nd grade), CPA, USCPA, tax accountant, or equivalent knowledge
- Experience with IFRS, consolidated accounting, or financial reporting
- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP or S/4HANA
- Experience using Excel, Power Query, or similar tools for data processing and analysis
- Experience improving processes through AI, VBA, automation, or related technologies
- Experience working with overseas offices, global teams, or international clients
