About the role
- The MMJ Reporter will be based in Tucson as part of a dedicated Southern Arizona news team serving Tucson stations while contributing to statewide coverage.
- This role involves reporting, shooting, writing, and editing content for broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms across both Tucson and Phoenix markets.
Responsibilities
- Cover live breaking news, enterprise stories, and major community issues across Tucson and Phoenix platforms.
- Collaborate daily with newsroom teams in Tucson and Phoenix as part of an integrated statewide operation.
- Report, shoot, write, edit, and produce content for broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms.
- Develop original story ideas rooted in Tucson and Southern Arizona.
- Build deep relationships and trusted sources throughout Southern Arizona.
- Deliver clear, confident, and conversational live reports for planned coverage and breaking news.
- Use social media and digital tools to discover, research, verify, and share news content.
- Uphold newsroom standards for accuracy, fairness, urgency, and storytelling.
Requirements
- Proven ability to shoot, write, edit, and produce broadcast and digital stories independently.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver polished, engaging live reports daily.
- Strong news judgment, writing ability, ethical decision-making, and attention to accuracy.
- Track record of generating original story ideas and building trusted sources.
- Comfort working independently in the field while collaborating with a larger newsroom.
- Ability to work quickly, calmly, and accurately under deadline pressure.
- Experience using social media and digital platforms for newsgathering and audience engagement.

- 2 years of reporting experience
