About Abridge
- Abridge was founded in 2018 with the mission of powering deeper understanding in healthcare. Our AI-powered platform was purpose-built for medical conversations, improving clinical documentation efficiencies while enabling clinicians to focus on what matters most—their patients.
- Our enterprise-grade technology transforms patient-clinician conversations into structured clinical notes in real-time, with deep EMR integrations. Powered by Linked Evidence and our purpose-built, auditable AI, we are the only company that maps AI-generated summaries to ground truth, helping providers quickly trust and verify the output. As pioneers in generative AI for healthcare, we are setting the industry standards for the responsible deployment of AI across health systems.
- We are a growing team of practicing MDs, AI scientists, PhDs, creatives, technologists, and engineers working together to empower people and make care make more sense. We have offices located in the Mission District in San Francisco, the SoHo neighborhood of New York, and East Liberty in Pittsburgh.
About the role
- Abridge is looking for a Revenue & Technical Accounting Manager to own how the company accounts for its most complex arrangements.
- This role involves designing agentic systems to enable a lean team to perform accounting operations at scale.
- The position combines revenue accounting, technical accounting research, and systems design for a fast-growing, pre-IPO company.
Responsibilities
- Own the revenue accounting that feeds monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, including complex revenue entries, deferred revenue and unbilled rollforwards, and revenue flux review.
- Review complex new and amended customer contracts by identifying performance obligations, determining transaction prices, allocating standalone selling prices (SSP), and flagging non-standard terms.
- Act as the escalation point for the FinOps Lead when a contract gets complicated.
- Own the accounting for consideration payable to customers, including service credits and equity-based customer incentives such as warrants.
- Maintain the SSP analysis and own the accounting for partner revenue-share arrangements and capitalized contract costs under ASC 340-40.
- Research and draft decision-ready memos on pre-IPO technical accounting questions, including stock-based compensation, financings, M&A, ASC 606, ASC 842 leases, and ASC 350-40.
- Settle technical positions ahead of the audit by partnering with auditors and external advisors.
- Design and build agentic systems that take in agreements, extract pricing and terms, and draft accounting treatment and entries for review.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for Big 4 auditors on revenue and technical accounting areas.
- Draft revenue and technical accounting sections of annual financial statements and footnotes while designing key internal controls.
Requirements
- Assurance or Accounting Advisory experience at a Big 4 firm at Senior to Manager level.
- A very strong technical foundation with exposure across revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, financings, M&A, and leases.
- Active CPA license.
- Hands-on ASC 606 experience in any industry.
- Experience writing technical memos accepted by auditors or evaluating technical memos as an auditor.
- Builder mindset with experience building apps, scripts, or automations, or eagerness to build agentic AI workflows.
- Systems thinking ability to design a workflow end to end including data, controls, and exception handling.
- Strong communication skills to explain complex accounting conclusions clearly.
Preferred qualifications
- Some private-industry experience, ideally owning revenue recognition at a high-growth SaaS, AI, or tech company.
- Apps, agents, or automations built that other people use.
- Worked through stock-based compensation, financings, or M&A at a pre-IPO or recently public company.
- Applied ASC 718 to warrants or equity instruments issued to customers or partners.
