About the role
- The Senior AI DevOps Engineer will own the CI/CD pipeline and QA automation infrastructure for Roku's mobile team, which supports the Roku Remote, Smart Home, and Howdy apps.
- This role focuses on using AI as a primary design tool to build a completely autonomous, self-healing pipeline that minimizes human intervention from code push to app store submission.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for iOS and Android on GitLab CI.
- Architect pipeline stages for fail-fast execution, prioritizing cheapest checks first.
- Build smart test routing to analyze MR diffs and optimize device farm usage.
- Develop flaky test detection and quarantine systems to improve signal reliability.
- Automate release mechanics including code signing, versioning, and store uploads.
- Ensure pipelines scale to accommodate increasing volumes of agent-authored MRs.
- Build device reservation and orchestration systems to maximize utilization and prevent contention.
- Design self-healing automation to detect unresponsive devices and trigger remote recovery.
- Define the device compatibility matrix for firmware and model combinations.
- Use AI to identify failure patterns and predict infrastructure issues.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience operating CI/CD infrastructure at scale, preferably GitLab CI.
- Deep understanding of mobile build systems including Xcode/xcodebuild and Gradle.
- Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash.
- Ability to build internal tooling for reservation systems, health monitors, and analytics dashboards.
- Advanced proficiency with AI-assisted development tools like Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor.
- Experience designing autonomous, self-healing systems that recover from failures without human intervention.
- Ability to travel up to 20%.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
- Working knowledge of WiFi and BLE protocols.
- Experience with mobile test automation frameworks like XCUITest, Espresso, or Appium.
