The Senior Backend Engineer will help build and evolve a new Common case-management system that powers support-case handling across DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo.
This role involves owning end-to-end initiatives, including case lifecycle management, routing, assignment, and migration from legacy systems.

Lead project-level Case Management initiatives from discovery and design through rollout and operational ownership.
Design and build scalable backend services and APIs for case creation, routing, assignment, transfers, audit history, and queue management.
Deliver feature parity with legacy platforms while safely migrating traffic across global brands.
Write project-level design documents, identify dependencies and risks, and break work into parallelizable delivery plans.
Partner with Product, Operations, Support, and Data teams to define problems and shape the team roadmap.
Enforce team-wide quality objectives, including design reviews, logging, monitoring, and alerting policies.
Serve as first responder or incident commander and develop playbooks for incident response.
Introduce and guide AI best practices, including evals, data privacy, and review of AI-generated code.
Design reusable, self-serviceable solutions while considering compute and AI costs.
Mentor engineers through code reviews, design guidance, and constructive feedback.

Strong backend engineering experience, including designing and operating services, APIs, and asynchronous workflows at scale.
Proficiency in at least one modern backend language.
Demonstrated ownership of complex, operations-critical projects from technical design through production rollout.
Experience breaking projects into parallelizable work and providing accurate estimates.
Hands-on experience using AI development tools while validating output for security, privacy, and reliability.
Strong product judgment to translate ambiguous workflows into maintainable technical solutions.
Proven ability to collaborate across functions and explain trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong engineering craft including testing, observability, security, and operational readiness.
Comfort working on systems with high correctness and auditability requirements.
A mentoring mindset and a record of raising team-wide engineering standards.
