About the role
- This is a newly created position within Multiverse’s Legal team, reporting directly to the General Counsel.
- The role serves as the primary legal partner for German operations while providing commercial legal support to the UK business.
- It is vital in establishing in-house legal capability across both the UK and German markets as the company expands its international footprint.
Responsibilities
- Act as the lead legal advisor for German group entities, providing guidance on commercial, employment, and corporate matters.
- Lead the German commercial contracting lifecycle (B2B, B2C, and B2G), drafting and negotiating agreements.
- Navigate the German regulatory landscape, including vocational training regulations (AZAV).
- Support post-acquisition workstreams, including contract migrations, governance alignment, and compliance harmonisation for European M&A transactions.
- Advise on German employment matters, including works council engagement and equity schemes.
- Manage relationships with external German counsel.
- Draft and negotiate UK commercial contracts (tech, data, and partnerships).
- Act as a strategic bridge between UK and German business functions.
Requirements
- Qualified to practice law in Germany.
- Qualified to practice law in England & Wales.
- A strong understanding of the German legal market.
- Experience working within the UK legal environment.
- Fluency in both German and English (written and spoken), with the ability to negotiate and draft legal documents in both languages.
- Experience managing a variety of commercial contracts and regulatory matters.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in M&A transactions or post-closing integration.
- Background in German employment law (works councils or incentive plans).
- Prior experience in an in-house environment, particularly within the tech or edtech sectors.
- Familiarity with UK commercial legal frameworks.
