About the role
- OpenAI is seeking a Senior Manager, Financial Reporting to build and manage a financial reporting engine within a high-growth, technically complex environment.
- The role involves owning end-to-end financial statements, driving audit readiness, and collaborating across departments to streamline reporting processes.
- The position requires a professional who can combine strong technical accounting judgment with a hands-on approach to modernize workflows through AI integration.
Responsibilities
- Modernize reporting workflows through AI integration using ChatGPT, Codex, and proprietary tools.
- Prepare GAAP financial statements, footnotes, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain rollforwards, tie-outs, and internal consistency checks for audit-ready outputs.
- Partner with external auditors to manage day-to-day audit workflows and issue resolution.
- Lead disciplined close-to-reporting tie-outs to ensure reconciliation to source records.
- Collaborate with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Legal, and Investor Relations to streamline reporting processes.
- Translate technical accounting conclusions into disclosures, memos, and leadership-ready summaries.
- Identify and implement process improvements, standard templates, and control points to increase automation.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 4+ years in external reporting.
- Strong track record owning GAAP financial statements and disclosures in dynamic, high-growth environments.
- Hands-on experience with financial reporting and ERP systems such as Workiva and Oracle.
- Proven project management and communication skills.
- Active CPA license.
- Deep technical accounting knowledge, including researching standards and preparing technical memos.

- Background working in late-stage startups or large tech companies.
- Experience working in investor relations or partnering with IR teams.
- Exposure to high-visibility financial events like financing rounds, mergers, or acquisitions.
