About the role
- The Senior Software Engineer will join the Atlas Clusters Organization to build and maintain security features for MongoDB Atlas. This role focuses on the Encryption & Compliance team, managing Encryption at Rest with customer-managed keys across major cloud providers.
Responsibilities
- Build and design new features for MongoDB Atlas
- Contribute to and lead complex technical projects
- Work closely with product and design teams to build technical solutions
- Work with customers and support engineers to fix issues
- Collaborate with team members to develop codebase, best practices, and design principles
- Mentor other team members
- Join an on-call rotation to support Atlas’ production services
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience
- Skilled at writing large-scale, distributed backend systems in a compiled language (Java, Go, etc.)
- Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Led the launch of a new feature and maintained it in production
- Excellent communication skills
- Curious, collaborative, and motivated
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with cloud key management (KMS / Key Vault / Cloud KMS)
- Experience with IAM
- Experience with private networking
- Experience with encryption in a production SaaS environment
