About the role
- The Data Platform team is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to design, build, and deploy high-performance, scalable data-platform services and products. This role focuses on developing foundational infrastructure for streaming analytics, interactive reporting, and machine learning to enhance end-user security. You will work across the organization to scale distributed systems and contribute to the long-term data strategy.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and own data-intensive, high-performance, scalable platform components
- Work with engineering teams, architects and cross functional partners on the development of projects, design, and implementation
- Conduct and participate in design reviews, code reviews, analysis, and performance tuning
- Coach and mentor engineers to help scale up the engineering organization
- Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience of software development
- Proficient in at least one language while comfortable in more than one of the backend languages, preferably Java or Typescript, Ruby, GoLang, Python
- Experience working with at least one of the database technologies: MySQL, Redis, or PostgreSQL
- Demonstrable knowledge of computer science fundamentals with strong API Design skills
- Comfortable working on a geographically distributed extended team
- Track record of delivering work incrementally to get feedback and iterating over solutions
- Comfortable in React or similar front-end UI stacks or willing to learn
Preferred qualifications
- Experience using cloud-based distributed computing technologies
- Experience with messaging systems such as Kinesis or Kafka
- Experience with data processing systems like Flink, Spark, or Beam
- Experience with storage and compute systems such as Snowflake or Hadoop
- Experience with coordinators and schedulers like Kubernetes, Hadoop, or Mesos
- Maintained security, encryption, identity management, or authentication infrastructure
- Leveraged major public cloud providers to build mission-critical, high volume services
- Hands-on experience in developing Data Integration applications for petabyte scale environments
