About the role
- The Continuous Profiler team at Datadog builds a continuous profiling product that runs continuously in production to provide insights into application performance under real workloads at scale.
- As a distributed systems engineer on the profiling team, you will contribute to the systems that intake, process, index, store, and interpret collected data.
Responsibilities
- Help design, build and contribute to the core services making the profiling product possible, at a scale that is unusual even within Datadog.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary squads, and iterate with customers, to bring ideas all the way from early explorations to impactful product experiences.
- You will be responsible for your code from development to production, and meet ambitious SLO and quality gates.
- You will be working with many internal and external stakeholders, working on various ways to consume the profiling data, such as the UI, agentic tools, internal applications, integrations and partner products.
Requirements
- Experience with Java and/or Go essential.
- Distributed systems engineer with experience building high performance large scale systems.
- Excellent communication skills (English).
- Ability to meaningfully review architectural proposals and guide technical trade-offs in a complex product space.
- Experience working with AI coding agents to produce performant and maintainable results.
- Experience collaborating with distributed teams.
Preferred qualifications
- Working knowledge of statistical methods, such as sampling strategies, bayesian optimization, sensor fusion etc
