About the role
- KAYAK is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Meta AI team in Kaunas.
- The role focuses on implementing new features and maintaining AI-driven travel search and trip-planning experiences.
- Engineers will work on high-impact projects like ASK AI and smart filters to improve the travel search engine.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain reliable production software for travel-search and trip-planning experiences.
- Build and evolve APIs and services supporting AI-assisted search and conversational travel planning.
- Investigate technical problems, assess trade-offs and choose practical solutions.
- Write automated tests and contribute to quality across unit, integration and end-to-end testing.
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers and designers to deliver user experiences.
- Contribute to features such as ASK AI, smart filters and AI-generated hotel review summaries.
- Monitor and improve production behavior through debugging, observability and root-cause analysis.
- Learn unfamiliar systems and share knowledge through documentation and pairing.
- Contribute to the evolution of development tools and engineering processes.
Requirements
- Experience building and maintaining production software.
- Proficiency in Java or another relevant programming language.
- Familiarity with APIs, data structures and software-design principles.
- Experience testing software and investigating defects or production issues.
- Ability to explain technical decisions clearly in writing and conversation.
- Ability to take ownership of assigned work.
- Experience contributing to projects from design through implementation, release and maintenance.
- Good communication skills in English.
