About the role
- The Applied AI team works embedded with strategic clients to identify opportunities for AI integration and build those capabilities from scratch.
- Engineers in this role will build agentic systems from initial concept through to production, partnering with core engineering teams to generalize solutions for all customers.
- The role involves direct client interaction to understand workflows, prototype solutions, and iterate based on real-world feedback.
Responsibilities
- Build AI-powered agents and tools end-to-end, from problem identification to production deployment.
- Design and implement LLM integrations including prompt engineering, function calling, and retrieval-augmented workflows.
- Define evaluation criteria and build test harnesses for AI systems.
- Work directly with clients to understand workflows, validate AI behavior, and iterate toward production quality.
- Partner with core engineering teams to generalize client-specific work into product features.
- Contribute to shared AI infrastructure such as agent frameworks and deployment pipelines.
- Monitor and maintain production AI systems with attention to reliability, cost, and performance.
Requirements
- Prior professional software engineering experience.
- Professional experience with Python.
- Experience working with LLM APIs including function calling and structured outputs.
- Comfort with SQL for data exploration and building data-grounded AI workflows.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools.
- Proven ability to build projects from zero to one.
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
- Must have and maintain the right to work in the United Kingdom.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience building agentic systems such as multi-step tool use and agent orchestration.
- Experience with Java.
- Familiarity with financial data including portfolios, transactions, securities, and accounting.
- Exposure to AWS and container-based deployments.
- Experience with evaluation frameworks or methodologies for measuring AI system quality.
Workplace
- Role requires up to 15% travel to client sites.
- Occasional work outside standard business hours may be required to accommodate client time zones.
