Toast is looking for a Software Engineer II to join the Toast Connect team in Bangalore.
The Connect team owns how everything outside Toast connects to Toast, including event infrastructure, integration frameworks, and customer data sourcing.
The role involves evolving the platform to support complex new features and best-in-class monitoring as the product scales.

Build, test, and deploy scalable backend microservices and RESTful APIs using Java / Kotlin and AWS infrastructure.
Champion best practices such as quality automated testing and phased rollouts to ensure zero-regression releases and high test coverage.
Monitor service health for success & failure, analyze logs and metrics (Datadog/CloudWatch), and participate in on-call rotations to maintain platform uptime.
Collaborate organically with peer engineers, provide design feedback, and participate in code reviews.
Collaborate with PM & UX on the development of new features & products.
Use AI tooling as a genuine part of your workflow, not an afterthought.

2+ years of professional backend software development in Kotlin, Java, or another object-oriented language, with solid instincts around testing and code quality.
Experience building RESTful APIs and distributed systems in production.
Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity to learn restaurant domain workflows, and enthusiasm for collaborating in an agile, cross-functional team.
Experience working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and writing efficient SQL queries and schema migrations.
Familiarity with distributed systems concepts, asynchronous messaging (Kafka, Pulsar, or AWS SQS/SNS), and cloud platforms (AWS).
