The Public Policy team helps represent Stripe to the public and governments, helping the company understand and adapt to a changing environment while advocating for the needs of users and the online economy.
The State & Local Policy Manager will support state and local public policy by bringing together cross-functional groups, building strategies, and working with trade associations and coalitions.

Support State and Local Public Policy by bringing together cross-functional groups within the company to spot issues and understand the impact to Stripe
Build a strategy to address Stripe’s key issues at the state level
Work with trade associations and coalitions to advance policy issues important to Stripe and our users
Foster state and local political relationships
Hire and manage consultants
Coordinate Stripe political giving at the state and local level
Build a strategic network of peers among Stripe users and similarly situated fintechs to engage in coordinated advocacy at the state and local level

5-8 years experience working in public policy, including with state legislative & regulatory issues in a public sector or private sector position
Availability for regular travel
Strong political connections in a key Stripe market (e.g., ideally California)
A combination of political savvy and the ability to go deep into complex policy issues, especially in financial services, payments regulation, and artificial intelligence
Demonstrated experience advocating across many states in front of legislators, regulators, attorneys general, and governors, including their respective political and policy associations
Demonstrated experience in coalition building, trade association coordination, and managing state consultants
A start up mentality: a willingness to roll up your sleeves, iterate, challenge the status quo, take chances and learn
Humility and commitment to teamwork
Strong communication (both written and verbal) skills
Strong strategic thinking, creativity, and able to juggle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment

Industry knowledge or passion for payments, tech, and financial services
A strong interest in entrepreneurship, preferably based on experience working with startups, founders, etc.
