About the role
- BitGo is seeking a Backend Engineer (E3) to design and ship core trading, risk, and fund-flow services.
- The role involves building crypto products and managing the end-to-end flow of funds for INR onboarding and derivatives trading.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end flow of funds for INR onboarding, deposits, withdrawals and collateral.
- Design and build scalable, secure backend APIs and services for retail derivatives trading.
- Model and manage risk in the product, including margin requirements, mark price, and liquidation controls.
- Integrate with exchanges, liquidity venues and market data providers.
- Build reliable, low-latency market connectivity.
- Partner with mobile engineers and Product to define APIs and ship features.
- Provide technical leadership by setting architecture standards and mentoring engineers.
- Run design and code reviews.
- Take ownership of the availability, performance and quality of services from design through deployment.
- Coordinate with global stakeholders, including occasional calls in ET hours.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional back-end and server-side development experience.
- Strong experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
- Strong experience with RESTful API design and microservices / service-oriented architectures.
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
- Experience designing for correctness in financial or transactional systems.
- Knowledge of derivatives including order types, margin, funding, liquidation and settlement.
- Familiarity with fund flows, risk, and security considerations in trading or financial platforms.
- Solid algorithm design, problem solving and complexity analysis skills.
- Experience with unit and functional testing, Git/GitHub workflows, code review and CI tooling.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience building futures or perpetuals products at a crypto exchange or trading platform.
- Crypto experience.
- Traditional-finance derivatives experience.
- Mobile development knowledge (React Native, iOS or Android).
- Full-stack familiarity with React.
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers.
- Experience acting as a tech lead or engineering manager.
- Experience building consumer-facing financial or crypto products and public-facing APIs in production.
