About the role
- This role sits at the heart of Monzo's Control Discipline change agenda, building the controls product platform that powers safe growth.
- As a Senior Controls Product Manager, you will act as the Product Lead for Monzo's core risk lifecycles, including issues, RCSAs, controls, policy, and regulatory traceability.
- You will prototype low-code tools, leverage AI models, interrogate data pipelines, and architect automated workflows to turn manual risk friction into seamless, automated self-service.
Responsibilities
- Own the Controls Product Roadmap by defining the vision, strategy, and backlog for internal risk products.
- Directly design, prototype, and build automated workflows, API integrations, and low-code/no-code solutions.
- Champion AI adoption across the discipline by experimenting with LLM prompting, custom agents, and automated evidence-gathering tools.
- Drive the shift from annual point-in-time assessments to continuous, automated monitoring and design real-time risk data triggers.
- Ensure high-impact adoption by working with first-line risk owners and Risk Partners to deliver clear guidance and intuitive workflows.
- Drive execution and delivery by maintaining momentum across the team's delivery plan and guiding two specialised data/automation direct reports.
Requirements
- Think like a Product Manager with a focus on user problems, prioritization, user experience, and shipping MVPs quickly.
- Act as a hands-on builder comfortable with SQL, Python (or similar), APIs, workflow tools, or low-code environments.
- Be AI-curious and practical by actively experimenting with AI/LLMs to automate manual tasks.
- Understand fundamental risk concepts including control design, RCSAs, and issue management.
- Thrive in ambiguity by enjoying starting from first principles in a fast-paced environment.
- Have experience in leading teams through change programmes, ideally within Financial Services Controls functions.
