About the role
- N26 is seeking a Data Scientist to develop production-ready machine learning applications for customer-facing features. The role focuses on financial crime prevention and credit risk assessment while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Own projects from data exploration and feature engineering through modelling to deployment.
- Contribute to solutions in financial crime prevention and credit risk assessment.
- Collaborate with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and product managers.
- Support junior colleagues through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
- Experiment with new tech stacks and project ideas.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (mathematics, statistics, or computer science).
- 2–4 years of practical experience developing machine learning solutions.
- At least one model taken to production.
- Hands-on experience with classification, regression, time series, and unsupervised models.
- Solid understanding of model evaluation, imbalanced data, validation, and calibration.
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
- Working knowledge of infrastructure including Docker, containers, CI/CD, and GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with Deep Learning concepts and at least one framework (TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch).
- Full professional proficiency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in banking, fraud detection, or credit risk.
- Knowledge of the banking industry (regulatory and compliance, PD/LGD/EAD modelling, credit card fraud, anti-money laundering).
- Experience with cloud ML platforms, especially AWS SageMaker.
- Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Early experience mentoring or onboarding colleagues.

Workplace
