About the role
- Orion Innovation is seeking a DB2 Database Administrator to support DB2 v12 (or higher) on an IBM z/OS platform.
- Primary responsibilities include working with application development teams to install and migrate releases, support data fixes, define recovery functions, and execute database tuning procedures.
- The target systems requiring support are the Payroll Management System, Pension Payroll Management System, and Financial Management System.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that all installation, configuration, and tuning of DB2 databases are completed efficiently
- Author and validate procedures for all database processes
- Identify potential issues and deliver modifications / updates for DB2 programs
- Communicate with and deliver to Tech Support all elements to be migrated with specific instructions to be performed during the production migration
- Assist Systems areas with tool upgrades and participate in Disaster Recovery drills
- Define and execute databases recovery functions, definition and execution of standard database tuning procedures (e.g., runstats, reorgs)
- Monitor the health of the key database operations including backup / recovery processes, logging, and system response times
- Open and manage tickets logged with IBM to resolution
- Work with application development teams to install and migrate software releases and support execution of data fixes
- Perform DB2 DB troubleshooting of online and batch programs during production, user acceptance testing, integrated system testing, performance testing and development phases
Requirements
- Experience with IBM DB2 V12 or higher
- Demonstrated experience working with application teams to build and maintain data propagation solutions using IBM InfoSphere Replication Server
- Experience with CICS transaction server
- Ability to author REXX scripts
- Ability to troubleshoot assembler code
- Ability to perform installation, configuration, and tuning of new DB2 databases
- Ability to troubleshoot issues with DB2 embedded within COBOL programs
- Ability to perform all database admin duties including backup/recovery, reorgs, and DB troubleshooting
- Experience with performance tuning at a DB2 system level or individual SQL statements/procedures
