About the role
- The Digital Customer Engineer (DCE) serves as a trusted technical advisor and core contributor to Cloudflare’s technical go-to-market strategy.
- Working within a pooled team, this role supports SMB and Digital Native Business customers throughout the complete customer lifecycle.
- The position bridges technical strategy and business value by helping customers design architectures and realize measurable outcomes using AI-assisted workflows.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Account Executives to lead technical discovery and map customer infrastructure to Cloudflare solutions.
- Define scope, success criteria, and evaluation plans for Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and technical validations.
- Deliver tailored technical presentations, architectural diagrams, and demonstrations.
- Develop structured success plans and provide architectural guidance for onboarding and adoption.
- Support customer health, manage risk, and identify opportunities for expansion.
- Contribute to shared team and territory targets for new business, retention, and account growth.
- Provide guidance on architecture, security posture, developer platforms, and AI control layers.
- Leverage AI agents and LLMs to automate routine tasks like RFP responses and sandbox provisioning.
- Design and maintain reusable technical resources such as workshops and documentation.
- Share knowledge and reusable assets with the wider team to raise the organization’s technical baseline.
Requirements
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Native-like fluency in English AND (Swedish OR Russian).
- Ability to understand, whiteboard, and explain network, security, application, or developer-platform architectures.
- Demonstrated knowledge or experience in at least three of the following: Internet Fundamentals, Security, Performance, AI Proficiency, Coding/Scripting, or Developer Platform Fluency.
- Strong presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple concurrent customer engagements.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience creating reusable technical assets like demonstrations, code samples, or reference architectures.
- Familiarity with cloud providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Exposure to modern application architectures including serverless, containers, microservices, and APIs.
- Knowledge of common application-security risks and mitigation strategies.
- Familiarity with LLM orchestration, Retrieval-Augmented Generation architectures, or model-access controls.
- Experience working with SMB or Digital Native Business customers.
Benefits
- Estimated annual salary between €43,000 - €67,000 (inclusive of incentive compensation).
- Eligible for incentive compensation under the Sales Compensation Plan.
- Eligible to participate in Cloudflare’s equity plan.
