The Engineering Director for Org & Identity will lead the engineering strategy and execution for Airwallex’s core identity and organization foundations.
This role oversees systems including user onboarding, authentication, access control, organization modeling, and account ownership.
The position involves building and developing high-performing engineering teams while ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of platform capabilities.

Own the technical direction for highly available, scalable, and secure systems providing a unified identity and organization foundation.
Translate complex identity, security, and organizational requirements into reliable platform capabilities.
Partner with Product, Design, Risk, Compliance, and Onboarding teams.
Build and develop a high-performing engineering team through hiring, coaching, and performance management.
Execute organizational design to support team growth and effectiveness.
Raise the bar for engineering excellence across architecture, delivery, and operational reliability.
Balance delivery speed, system reliability, security, and long-term maintainability.

Significant experience leading engineering teams responsible for identity, authentication, authorization, or account management.
Strong technical depth in designing and operating highly available, scalable, and secure distributed systems.
Experience setting technical strategy and translating ambiguous business, product, and security needs into engineering priorities.
Track record of building and developing high-performing engineering teams.
Experience partnering effectively with product, design, risk, and compliance stakeholders.
Strong judgment in balancing delivery speed, system reliability, and operational complexity.
Clear, direct communication skills with the ability to influence at technical and executive levels.
