About the role
- The Engineering Manager for Edge SRE will lead and develop a team responsible for the reliability and scalability of Cloudflare's edge production environment.
- This role involves driving platform initiatives, building tools for production debugging, and establishing best practices for measuring availability and performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of engineers focused on keeping the Cloudflare edge reliable and scalable.
- Mentor, grow, and empower team members to make independent decisions.
- Assist individuals in building and executing personal development plans.
- Prioritize the roadmap for the SRE organization.
- Drive cross-team and cross-org alignment across engineering, infrastructure, and product teams.
- Partner with other Engineering Managers to achieve reliability outcomes for services.
- Participate in deep technical design discussions across teams to ensure high system quality.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering, reliability, or operations experience in a customer-focused environment.
- 2+ years experience managing a team of 5 or more engineers on projects related to distributed systems, tooling, Linux, Internetworking, infrastructure security, or infrastructure management.
- Ability to provide strong technical vision for systems and infrastructure teams.
- Experience building services and systems, including taking projects from inception to production.
- Ability to lead discussions with upper management and tailor technical detail to the audience.
- Comfortable collaborating and coordinating on cross-team projects and workflows.
Preferred qualifications
- Hands-on experience with software or reliability engineering.
- Experience leading and hiring a team that builds and runs tools and platforms.
- Planning and overseeing execution to meet commitments with predictability.
- Incident root cause analysis and follow-ups.
- Incident management.
- Experience managing teams or projects with deadlines and short release cycles.
- Experience using observability tools such as Jaeger, OpenTracing, ELK, Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana, or Clickhouse.
- Familiarity working with Proxies, DNS, Databases, Internet, and Security.

- Hybrid role based in London.
