About the role
- Profound is hiring a Head of Design to lead and grow the design team, set the vision for an AI-native product, and ensure exceptional quality across all shipped experiences.
- The role reports directly to the CTO and involves close collaboration with founders and the leadership team to shape product strategy and design vision.
Responsibilities
- Set the design vision: define the long-term direction for Profound's product experience and a cohesive design language across the platform, and bring clarity to complex workflows
- Shape product strategy: partner with the founders and product and engineering leadership on what we build, why, and how
- Lead and grow the team: level up existing designers, hire new talent, and build a culture of high standards, strong ownership, and honest critique
- Lead through craft: stay close to the work through product judgment, visual and interaction design, and hands-on exploration
- Define AI-native experiences: create new interaction patterns for software that works on users' behalf
- Move fast without losing quality: build principles, systems, and rituals for rapid prototyping, customer learning, and quick shipping
- Stay close to customers: use research, product intuition, and data to solve real problems and improve marketer workflows
Requirements
- Led product design at an ambitious, high-growth technology company, setting vision, building teams, and influencing company-level product direction
- Exceptional taste and a portfolio of shipped, beautifully executed products
- Experience hiring, developing great designers, and raising the quality of a team
- Ability to see design and product strategy as inseparable, navigate ambiguity, and influence founders, executives, and engineers
- Experience designing sophisticated software, ideally B2B platforms, analytics, data visualization, or complex workflows
- Hands-on capability to present long-term vision, coach designers, or jump into Figma or code to prototype ideas
- Energized by AI, actively experimenting with new tools, with strong opinions about how AI will change products and design practice
