About the role
- As an Implementation Engineer for Plaid Europe, you’ll own customer integrations from the moment a contract is signed to the moment they’re live in production and growing.
- You’ll write the integration plan, run the kickoff, debug alongside the customer’s engineers, validate their sandbox implementation, and see them through go-live.
- You’ll also build the resources that make the next integration faster because this team is small and its leverage comes from what gets written down.
Responsibilities
- Own a portfolio of customer integrations from signature to production launch, including plans, milestones, and exit criteria.
- Run scheduled implementation support for standard integrations, as well as one-off debugging engagements for customers who need a targeted fix.
- Lead technical onboarding for existing customers adopting a new Plaid product, use case, or market.
- Debug integration issues hands-on with customer engineers across API, SDK, OAuth redirect, and webhook behaviour.
- Validate sandbox implementations and run go-live readiness checks.
- Use Plaid’s own data to proactively diagnose integration and conversion problems.
- Produce written handovers to Account Management and maintain the team’s reusable implementation resources.
- Escalate recurring integration failures to Product and Engineering as clear patterns, backed by evidence.
Requirements
- 4+ years in a customer-facing technical role, such as implementation, integration, solutions, or technical account management, ideally at an API platform.
- Hands-on experience with REST APIs, OAuth, webhooks, JSON, and web and mobile SDKs.
- Comfort working in Postman or curl and reading API documentation critically.
- Experience with SQL or other data querying tools.
- A track record of owning technical projects end to end, with real deadlines and direct relationships with customer engineers.
- Clear written communication skills, including plans, handovers, and customer updates.
- Comfort working independently in a small regional team alongside a globally distributed function.
Preferred qualifications
- Knowledge of open banking, including UK Open Banking, PSD2/PSD3, AIS/PIS, and VRP.
- Domain depth in payments, identity verification, or credit and underwriting.
- A formal technical background or prior software engineering experience.
- Experience with mobile integrations.
- Fluency in a second European language.
