The Marketplace Performance team owns the foundation of key monetization artifacts that drive GMV for Affirm.
This role involves building Affirm's first fully-featured ads platform to create a shopping destination for merchants and customers.
The manager will set technical strategy and lead a team to deliver business-impacting projects while fostering a culture of quality and ownership.

Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long time scale.
Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to manage technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs.
Act as a force-multiplier through the definition and advocacy of technical solutions and operational processes.
Take ownership of team operations and availability, including monitoring, triage, playbooks, and alerting.
Set code review and design standards for the team.
Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.

8+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.
Extensive track record of developing highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
Experience developing consumer experiences using UI frameworks like React.
2+ years of experience working in Ad Tech or related platforms.
Experience delivering major features, system components, or deprecating existing functionality through technical and execution planning.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
