About the role
- The People Systems Engineer will design, build, and maintain automations, integrations, and AI-powered workflows connecting core systems like Workday, Greenhouse, and Slack.
- This role involves owning features from design through deployment and reliability, utilizing an AI-forward approach to eliminate manual effort and improve team member experiences.
- The position operates within an all-remote, async-first environment, reporting to the Senior Director of People Technology.
Responsibilities
- Build, test, and maintain People system automations and integrations across Workato, Google Cloud Platform, Claude, Workday, Greenhouse, and GitLab.
- Develop integrations between Workday, Greenhouse, Slack, and internal tools using WWS and Slack APIs.
- Build Slack apps and bots to automate manual workflows.
- Write clean, readable automation code in Ruby or a comparable scripting language.
- Monitor integration health, troubleshoot failures, and address root causes.
- Ship changes through GitLab CI/CD pipelines following testing and SOX ITGC standards.
- Use AI tools, LLMs, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) frameworks to accelerate development and prototype AI agents.
- Partner with People Technology Analysts on configuration, testing, and releases.
- Collaborate with Information Security, IT, and AI Engineering on security and standards.
- Document and maintain automation architecture.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building automations or integrations, ideally with human resources or business systems.
- Experience writing and maintaining code in Ruby, Python, or JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience with Workato or a comparable iPaaS in a production environment.
- Experience working with APIs and web services, including REST and SOAP.
- Proficiency with Git for version control and code review.
- Ability to work independently and solve problems with curiosity.
- Ability to protect highly confidential information.
