About the role

  • OpenAI is seeking a Product Manager for the Financial Services team to define and build AI products tailored for financial professionals.
  • Reporting to the GM of Financial Services, this hands-on role owns product strategy, roadmap, and execution from customer discovery and prototypes through launch and iteration.

Responsibilities

  • Own product strategy and priorities, working with the GM to identify valuable customer problems and translate them into a clear roadmap.
  • Go deep on financial workflows by sitting with customers, observing their work, and understanding their documents, data, tools, and standards.
  • Build and ship working prototypes, demos, example outputs, and product requirements using Codex and other OpenAI tools.
  • Raise the bar for quality and trust by partnering with Research and Engineering to turn real finance tasks and product failures into evaluations, datasets, and model feedback.
  • Make products work inside financial institutions by translating integration, data-access, privacy, security, and review requirements into product decisions.
  • Measure results and drive adoption through task completion, output acceptance, repeat usage, time saved, and business impact.

Requirements

  • Have a track record of taking complex products from discovery through launch and sustained adoption, as a product manager, founder, or builder with substantial product ownership.
  • Understand financial work well enough to earn credibility with demanding practitioners, potentially through building products for financial institutions or working directly in investment banking, investing, equity research, or corporate development.
  • Combine strong product taste with attention to detail to make complex workflows feel simple and judge both the experience and the quality of its outputs.
  • Work comfortably with engineers and researchers on model behavior, data quality, integrations, and evaluations.
  • Use AI deeply in your own work and build prototypes to test ideas, while being willing to teach, onboard, debug, and inspect outputs alongside customers.
  • Know how to choose useful goals and metrics, test assumptions, and change priorities when evidence changes.
  • Bring sound judgment about privacy, trust, and accuracy in consequential professional work.
  • Take ownership in ambiguous situations, drive decisions across unmanaged teams, and communicate clearly.
