About Anthropic
- Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
- As the program manager for Anthropic's Safeguards organization, you will keep the Policy, Enforcement, and Threat Intelligence teams moving by tracking portfolios and running connective processes.
- Your work will involve managing the operating rhythm, launch and release readiness, and external publications while working closely with leadership to spot risks and clear blockers.
- The role requires bringing structure to ambiguous, fast-moving work without adding unnecessary overhead.
Responsibilities
- Own cross-functional program management for the Policy Design, Enforcement and Threat Intel teams, keeping workstreams across harm areas on track and visible to leadership.
- Run the team's operating rhythm: quarterly planning, priority setting, status tracking, and a clear record of decisions, who made them, and why.
- Coordinate policy work with partner teams across research, product, engineering, legal, and communications, so dependencies are surfaced early.
- Drive readiness for policy, enforcement, and threat intelligence work tied to model launches and product releases, including timelines, reviews, and sign-offs.
- Own the process for the org's external publications, including blog posts and threat reports, from idea through drafting, review, approvals, and publication.
- Identify risks, blockers, and resourcing gaps across the portfolio, and escalate them with a proposed path forward.
- Build lightweight processes and tools that make the team faster, and retire the ones that stop earning their keep.
Requirements
- Experience running cross-functional programs in a fast-moving technical environment, with a track record of shipping on time across teams you don't manage.
- Ability to bring structure to ambiguous work: breaking big goals into plans, owners, and milestones, and keeping them current as priorities shift.
- Strong written communication, including clear status updates, decision records, and summaries for executive audiences.
- Experience managing review and approval processes with multiple stakeholders, such as publications, launches, or policy releases.
- Judgment about when a process helps and when it's overhead, and a bias toward the lightest process that works.
- Comfort working on sensitive topics and holding high standards for confidentiality.
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in a field relevant to the role.
Preferred qualifications
- Program management experience in trust & safety, product policy, enforcement operations, threat intelligence, or AI safety.
- Familiarity with how AI models are developed and launched, and how policy, enforcement, and threat intelligence work plug into that cycle.
- Experience coordinating external publications, research releases, or public communications.
- Experience using AI tools, including agentic tools, to automate tracking, reporting, and other recurring program work.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation and benefits
- Optional equity donation matching
- Generous vacation
- Parental leave
- Flexible working hours
Workplace
- Location-based hybrid policy requiring staff to be in one of the offices at least 25% of the time, though some roles may require more time.
