About the role
- The Senior Operations and Supplier Tester resides within the 1st Line of Defense (1LOD) Operations and Supplier Testing team, supporting risk management of 1LOD Operations.
- This position provides hands-on support for performing 1LOD transactional and supplier oversight testing across Small Business Lending operations and processes.
Responsibilities
- Ensure Operations and key suppliers have a sustainable and effective end-to-end control environment by identifying gaps and weaknesses during testing.
- Support testing activities across Small Business Lending operational areas including originations, underwriting support processes, servicing activities, collections operations, customer support functions, and related operational processes.
- Document and perform complex and high risk process and control testing to provide reasonable assurance that internal and external processes are operationally effective.
- Obtain and analyze test data from multiple sources, following documented test plans, testing procedures, and leveraging job aids as needed.
- Manage assigned testing timelines to ensure all tasks and reporting are completed within established timeframes.
- Apply regulatory and compliance knowledge to evaluate scenarios, assess risk implications, and inform testing conclusions.
- Assist the Testing Manager in the build-out of new test scripts for previously un-tested areas, augment existing test scripts to broaden test scope while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, policies, and business processes.
- Make principle-based scoring and risk decisions grounded in policy intent, evidence and data.
- Conduct peer reviews of analyst work to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to testing methodology.
- Train analysts on newly designed or revised tests and mentor analysts to build critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience in audit, compliance testing, or other control/ transactional reviews.
- Experience in banking and/or fintech industry with knowledge of Small Business Lending products, operational processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate ability to apply testing methodology, regulatory knowledge and risk and control frameworks to evaluate complex scenarios and inform testing conclusions.
- Strategic thinker who can partner with testing manager to build, expand and improve existing testing scripts and processes.
- Strong organizational skills, able to balance multiple critical priorities simultaneously and successfully.
- Maintain strong time management, able to complete multiple concurrent tasks within close deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and detail.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to review and comprehend large sets of data.
- Fluent in Excel and PowerPoint, comfortable with analyzing large datasets in Google suite, MS Office apps, etc.
- Ability to work independently with minimum oversight and exercise sound, risk based judgment in ambiguous or complex scenarios.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
