The Developer Platform team builds internal tools and infrastructure to improve the velocity, quality, and developer experience for Synthesia's engineering teams.
This role involves owning developer productivity, CI/CD systems, AI-assisted QA, and AI-assisted development initiatives.
The position requires a senior or staff-level engineer to lead technical strategy, mentor team members, and drive long-term architectural decisions.

Own architectural decisions for building, releasing, and supporting features.
Mentor engineers and embed technical practices through code reviews and design partnerships.
Lead projects spanning multiple quarters by breaking down complex problems into iterative milestones.
Define success criteria, manage trade-offs, and determine when to escalate to leadership.
Partner with leadership to shape the technical roadmap and strategy.
Own the operational health of systems and use data to drive maintenance and deprecation decisions.
Anticipate 12+ month technical challenges and propose scalable solutions.
Influence engineering requirements and propose technical alternatives.

At least 7 years of experience as a software engineer.
At least 2-3 years of experience at a senior or staff level.
Hands-on experience building and operating developer platforms, CI/CD systems, observability/metrics infrastructure, or testing infrastructure.
Proven track record of shipping infrastructure or tooling that improved developer velocity or reduced cognitive load.
Experience leading the adoption of AI-powered developer tools across an engineering organization.
Experience operating in a high-performing scale-up or established engineering organization.
Experience integrating third-party services, APIs, and SaaS tools into internal systems.
Understanding of operational constraints when running external code or services at scale.

Preference for candidates based in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, or Ireland.
Remote work possible in other European locations subject to compliance and right to work checks.
