About the role
- The Senior RF Design & Test Engineer will join the Electrical Engineering Design team to deliver RF hardware that meets performance and regulatory requirements.
- This role involves bridging design and validation by taking concepts from schematic and simulation through chamber characterization and compliance sign-off.
- The engineer will collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and systems design teams, as well as EMC and compliance groups.
Responsibilities
- Ensure RF designs comply with military and commercial communication system standards and protocols.
- Support spectrum authorization and certification processes for military RF systems.
- Evaluate designs against SAR and military RF exposure limits.
- Assess coexistence and desense between onboard radios and recommend mitigations for cross-band interference.
- Perform bench and chamber testing of RF hardware and antennas using VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
- Partner with EMC and mechanical engineering to root-cause field or test failures.
- Design RF circuits and subsystems including front-ends, amplifiers, filters, and transceivers.
- Design and integrate antennas and antenna arrays while balancing mechanical and system constraints.
- Support GPS/GNSS receiver design and integration.
- Review schematics and CAD designs for RF performance, signal integrity, and manufacturability.
Requirements
- Familiarity with military and commercial communication system compliance standards.
- Familiarity with SAR and military RF exposure limits.
- Experience with multi-radio coexistence and desense analysis.
- Proficiency with RF bench equipment including VNA, spectrum analyzer, and signal generator.
- Hands-on experience designing and testing RF circuits, subsystems, or antennas.
- Working knowledge of GPS/GNSS receiver architectures and active antenna bias circuits.
- Strong background in schematic reviews, CAD analysis, and RF/high-speed PCB layout best practices.
- Proficiency with 3D EM simulation software for S-parameter analysis and performance modeling.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a clearance.
