About fivetran

  • Fivetran and dbt Labs are coming together with a shared mission: helping organizations unlock the full value of their data. Together we're building the data infrastructure layer that moves, transforms, and adds context to data — from the moment it lands to the point where teams and AI systems depend on it.
  • As we bring our teams and technology together, we're building on the strengths of both companies while continuing to deliver the products our customers know and trust. It's a good time to join a company with the scale, talent, and technology to help more organizations put their data to work.

About the role

  • Product Finance covers how products perform and what they cost to build, run, and support, with this role owning the cost and investment side as a finance partner to Product and Customer Support.
  • The position entails owning the operating expense P&L, building portfolio-level product investment views, and developing cost-to-serve analytics while collaborating with senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the finance business partner to Product and Customer Support leadership to own budgets, partner on spend decisions, and flag risks and trade-offs.
  • Own the annual operating plan for both organizations, including headcount and hiring plans, vendor and program spend, and quarterly reforecasts.
  • Own monthly close, accruals, and variance analysis including budget versus actuals with clear driver explanations.
  • Build the portfolio view of product investment detailing what is spent behind each product line and what it returns for roadmap funding.
  • Bring cost of revenue and product unit economics into the investment view by working with teams owning underlying cost data.
  • Build cost-to-serve analytics including support cost by account and segment, and the economics of deflection and AI-assisted support.
  • Build business cases for new product investments, major roadmap decisions, and the economics of retiring or consolidating products.
  • Co-own the Product Monthly and Quarterly Financial Reviews with the product top-line lead so cost and performance are presented together.
  • Improve how finance work gets done through better data models, less manual assembly, and AI applied to recurring analysis.

Requirements

  • 4+ years in FP&A, strategic finance, product finance, investment banking, or consulting, including ownership of a model or forecast that others relied on.
  • Experience owning an operating expense budget, or partnering with a non-finance organization on its spend.
  • Strong modeling skills across both driver-based revenue forecasts and operating expense and headcount models.
  • Working knowledge of software and subscription economics including ARR, NRR, ARPA, expansion, and gross margin.
  • Comfort working directly with large and complex datasets with SQL proficiency strongly preferred.
  • Ability to turn analysis into a clear recommendation and present it to Product, Support, and senior leadership.
  • Interest in how software gets built and what it costs to run.

Preferred qualifications

  • Product or Engineering finance partnership at a software, data infrastructure, or developer tools company.
  • Hands-on product margin, cost of revenue, or cost-to-serve analysis.
  • Experience supporting a Customer Support, Services, or other cost-to-serve organization.
  • Usage-based pricing, packaging, or monetization modeling.
  • Experience with planning and BI tools such as Pigment, Looker, Tableau, or Sigma.
  • Lightweight automation experience in Python or SQL.
  • Experience through a period of rapid scaling or IPO preparation.

Benefits

  • 100% employer-paid medical insurance
