About the role
- Roku is seeking an early careers Software Engineer for AI/UI to build real agentic capability into the platform behind over 100 million streaming households.
- This is a systems engineering role first, where agent work sits on telemetry, distributed services, and physical devices.
- Engineers on the Roku OS Platform UI team own features end-to-end from the OS platform layer through application and UI to cloud integration.
Responsibilities
- Build multi-step agents that do real work in production, including detecting regressions across services, bisecting causing commits, proposing fixes, and generating and reviewing code.
- Develop internal tooling, skills, harnesses, and services that make the team faster.
- Work on real-time telemetry and event processing at streaming scale, adhering to CPU and memory constraints for device hardware.
- Solve agent problems involving hardware in the loop, physical feedback, device fleets, and non-simulatable signals.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and cross-functional engineering partners to bring ambitious ideas to production at scale.
Requirements
- Up to 3/4 years of professional engineering experience since finishing studies.
- Strong systems or infrastructure fundamentals in real-time data, telemetry, distributed systems, platforms, or device work.
- Experience building and shipping something agentic that other people use (multi-step rather than a chat wrapper).
- A clear account of how you stay accountable for code you did not type, using design-first principles, review discipline, or your own gates.
- A view on where agents are not good enough yet and why.
- The existing right to work in the US without visa sponsorship.
